Leonique van Houwelingen

Leonique van Houwelingen joined Aon per the 1st of November as CEO Aon the Netherlands.

Prior to this Leonique was the EMEA Head of Strategic Growth and Regional Head of Client Coverage within BNY Mellon Asset Servicing and from 2018 till 2021 she was the Chief Executive Officer of BNY Mellon’s European bank, headquartered in Brussels

After graduating from her civil law studies at the University in Leiden, Leonique started her career at ABN AMRO Bank in 1995 and she moved to BNY Mellon in 2003.
From 2012 to end of 2018, Leonique has been the Chair of the Foreign Bankers Association in The Netherlands. She was a board member of AmCham The Netherlands and of JA Europe, a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing young people for employment and entrepreneurship.

In 2020, Leonique participated as member of the European Commissions’ High Level Forum on Capital Markets Union as one of the representatives of the private sector.

Leonique is a vocal advocate for diversity and inclusion in financial services and was one of the founders of Women In Finance (WIF) in Belgium and she was for 8 years the EMEA Executive Sponsor for PRISM, BNY Mellon’s LGBTQ+ employee resource group.
