As Finance Director for Shell Nederland Hans Peter van Arkel has been on the forefront of the energy transition for Shell in the Netherlands. With EUR 6.5 billion investments for Shell’s future business it has been a very interesting challenge as finance professional. The dynamics of the economics and drive to shape the new energy system have given rise to develop his leadership capabilities.

Apart from working for Shell Mr. van Arkel is also a 4th generation descendant of a family business in the building industry. As director of the family trust office he plays an important role to represent the family’s interest and ensuring the long-term continuity of the company.

Being responsible for statutory reporting for Shell in the Netherlands and having a strong background in financial reporting he is an elected member of the Dutch Accounting Standards Board. Mr. van Arkel studied business economics at the University of Amsterdam and is also a chartered accountant.
