Cindy Kroon

As CEO of Vattenfall N.V. and Vice President Customers NL, Cindy serves on the board and leads Vattenfall’s activities in the Netherlands, focused on customers. One of Europe’s largest energy companies, Vattenfall aims to achieve net zero by 2040. A top two player in the Dutch market, Vattenfall NL serves more than 3 million customers through Vattenfall BtB, Vattenfall BtC, Feenstra, Delta Energy and Powerpeers, and employs 4,000 people. With 20,000 colleagues, Cindy is committed to achieving it through developing fossil-free energy solutions and enabling the energy transition for all customers.
Cindy is 50 years old, lives in Berkel en Rodenrijs, and is the proud mother of two boys, aged 13 and 9. She studied Business Administration at Erasmus University from 1994 to 1998, graduating in Strategic Management with a thesis on the liberalization of Europe’s energy market. After working as a consultant at KPMG, she joined Vattenfall in 2003.
Who or what provided your possibilities?
My mother, who not only inspired me being one of the first full-time women working in my childhood environment, but also taught me important lessons as ‘never become dependent of a man’, ‘you can say everything, but do it in the right way and at the right time’, and who showed me how commercial result drivenness can be combined with a focus on the human behind the employee.
