The story of Quooker began in 1970 with Henri Peteri from Rotterdam, who was working at Unilever’s London headquarters. During a presentation about instant soup, Peteri realized the inefficiency of waiting five minutes to boil water on the stove for a process that took just five seconds. This insight inspired him to develop a prototype of the world’s first boiling water tap. Despite the significant time and money required, Peteri’s initial model was well-received by friends and acquaintances, who found it indispensable.

The project gained momentum when Peteri’s son Niels joined the effort after completing his studies. In 1992, they introduced the first Quooker, the Quooker Basic. The company began to gain market traction, especially after Peteri’s other son, Walter, joined the business. By 2000, Quooker’s popularity surged in the Netherlands, and in 2004, the first Quookers were exported internationally.
