Everyone’s sitting on data. Almost no one’s sitting on execution.
Like probably most of you reading this, I studied Business Administration at RSM. Where the “dream career route” often points toward Big 4 or strategy consulting, that was never the pull for me: I wanted to be close to the fire, winning and failing alongside a small team, not inside a large machine.
That’s why I joined Apolix straight after graduating: a company founded in 2019 by two ex-RSM’ers, literally out of their student bedroom. I joined when Apolix was just 7 people with a handful of clients, and I’ve since watched it grow into a multi-million euro revenue boutique consultancy with over 40 employees. Today, as VP Benelux, UK & Nordics, I’m responsible for acquiring new clients and for the successful delivery and expansion of existing ones: making sure process mining technology translates into strategically relevant results, not just paper business cases.
Getting to do all of this so early in my career is exactly why I chose the startup route.
Who or what provided your possibilities?
Rotterdam itself, as the city were I’ve lived now for almost 10 years. The port that built this city famously lives by the quote of “niet lullen, maar poetsen”. I think the most important distinguishing factor in business is being able to “follow through”. Not just having ideas and talking, but actually taking action and seeing it through until done.
