Leonique van Houwelingen recently started her own advisory firm and is currently Senior Advisor to the CEO of Necron Capital Group, Prior to this she was CEO and Senior Advisor of Aon the Netherlands and before that she had a long career with BNY. Her last two roles within BNY were EMEA Head of Strategic Growth and Client Coverage and from 2018 till 2021 she was CEO of BNY’s European bank (BNYMellonSA/NV), headquartered in Brussels.
After graduating from her civil law studies at the University in Leiden in 1994, Leonique started her career as management trainee with ABN AMRO Bank where she held various (managerial) roles in different areas including Legal, Export Finance and Fixed Income Transaction Management.
Next to her roles she has been active in different industry bodies for example as Chair of the Foreign Bankers Association in The Netherlands, board member of JA Europe, board member of VNAB and board member of AmCham The Netherlands.
Leonique is a vocal advocate for DEI in financial services and was one of the founders of Women In Finance (WIF) in Belgium. She has also been an executive sponsor for different employee resource groups both within BNY and Aon.
It is not one but multiple ports and sometimes from an unexpected one. A year ago, through a friend I ran into a complete new opportunity to use my experience to the benefit of a founder and CEO of a company that is going through a big transition: network is important!
