About Us
Founded in 1979 in a modest Rotterdam attic, SKIM has grown into a global insight-based consultancy that empowers brands to elevate their pricing, innovation, and communication strategies with clarity and confidence.
We partner with leading companies—including Philips, Unilever, Google, and Danone—to navigate complexity and drive growth. Our work spans four key areas:
– Pricing & Revenue Management: Strategies rooted in behavioral modeling to deliver sustainable, profitable outcomes.
– Brand Communications: Messaging that resonates, using proven psychological frameworks.
– Product Innovation: Guiding ideas to market with real consumer insight.
– Advanced Analytics & Modeling: Translating data into strategic clarity using AI, choice modeling, and simulations.
Our strength lies in combining qualitative and quantitative methods—from mobile testing and DigiShop simulations to the SKIMulator—offering actionable insights based on real-world behavior.
SKIM is powered by over 300 SKIMmers across 11 offices, representing more than 40 nationalities. Our culture encourages individuality, ownership, and collaboration. At the helm are Co-CEOs Karin Lieshout and Joris Huisman, who embody our inclusive, future-facing approach to leadership.
We also act with purpose. Through SKIMpact, our sustainability initiative, we support communities and clients on their net-zero journeys. We aim to be carbon positive by 2025 and actively invest in social programs—from digital skills training to local impact efforts—guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Across every engagement, we bring behavioral expertise, strategic depth, and a human approach. Whether refining pricing strategies, testing product ideas, or shaping brand messaging, SKIM helps you make confident decisions that create lasting impact.
What are our sustainable initiatives?
SKIM’s sustainability efforts are anchored in SKIMpact, a purposeful commitment guided by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Our focus spans three key aspirations:
Empowering people—we channel our skills and resources into local initiatives, such as delivering “Excel for Beginners” workshops to underprivileged students, helping them build critical, employable skills.
Becoming carbon positive by 2025—we meticulously measure and offset our carbon footprint, committing to offset more emissions than we generate.
Supporting clients toward net-zero—we equip our partners with the insights and strategies needed to advance their own sustainable journeys.
Behind these pillars lies our broader sustainability work—SKIM applies behavioral science to help brands turn intention into action. We help close the “say‑do gap,” crafting authentic sustainability messaging, leveraging psychological distance frameworks, and guiding impactful consumer behavior shifts.
