The Heart Foundation is the second largest non-profit organization in the Netherlands. The Netherlands has 1,7 million people with a cardiovascular disease. If nothing is done, this number will grow to at least 2,6 million within eight years. A new and ambitious assignment was formulated at the end of 2022, putting the urgency of cardiovascular disease on the map. In 2024 the Dutch Heart Foundation celebrated its 60th anniversary.
Hans Snijder has a journalistic background. He worked as editor for several Dutch public broadcasting companies and was also editor-in-chief of a Dutch newspaper. He holds various board positions, and was chairman of the supervisory board of AVROTROS, the largest public broadcasting company in Holland. Previously he was managing director Media & Fundraising at the Princess Máxima Centre for children’s oncology. Snijder is CEO of the Dutch Heart Foundation since February 2022.
