Jaap C. Haartsen has been active in the area of wireless communications for more than 25 years. He studied at Delft University of Technology obtaining his Master and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering (both with honor) in 1986 and 1990, respectively. Jaap started his career in the US working on advanced mobile phone systems. Mid-1993, he moved to Sweden to work on wireless indoor systems. Summer 1994, he laid the foundations for the system that later became known as the Bluetooth® Wireless Technology. In 2015, he was inducted in the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Washington, and in 2016 in the CTA Hall of Fame, New York.
