About Us
Huawei provides information and communication technology solutions. With these solutions, we build a fully connected, intelligent world. For every individual, every household and every organisation. Huawei has 207,000 employees in 170 countries and research centres around the world. Huawei Europe is headquartered in Düsseldorf. We have been contributing to telecom networks and digitalisation in the Netherlands since 2005. The Dutch government wants to remain at the forefront of a fast, secure and affordable telecommunications infrastructure. We see it as our mission to make an important contribution to this. We do this by facilitating the digital transition, by innovating and by doing business responsibly and sustainably. We have settled here for the long term and want to make a lasting contribution to Dutch society.
We work together with partners from various industries. Our motto: ‘Build together, win together’. We have partnerships with Dutch universities and innovative hubs. We also invest in ICT education and the future generation of ICT specialists. One example is the SmartBus, which will pass through schools in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Portugal in late 2019 and early 2020 for internet education. You can find more information about this programme on our European website.
What are our sustainable initiatives?
A greener and fully connected world
At Huawei, we pay close attention to sustainability in all processes. In product planning and design; research and development; manufacturing and delivery; and operations and maintenance activities. After all, we only have one world. With our green products, we want to contribute to a sustainable world. Our commitment to a greener living environment
ICT is becoming an important supporting technology for a greener world. Our aim is to reduce carbon emissions per ICT connection by 80% on average by 2025 (source: Huawei Global Industry Vision, GIV). To achieve this, we are taking these measures, among others:
- We manufacture our equipment as sustainably as possible
- We have been using bioplastics for our packaging and products since 2013, which has already saved more than 123,000 cubic meters of wood
- We do reuse materials (cradle to cradle)
- We use high-integrity chips, highly efficient power amplifiers and 5G-compatible power-off technology. This has reduced the power consumption of 5G equipment by 15%
- We worked with network operators to develop 5G standards for energy efficiency assessment and encourage continuous improvement of 5G energy efficiency
- Huawei supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Read our latest sustainability report here (English).
