Erik Varwijk
Executive Vice President of Air France KLM

Erik Ferdinand Varwijk was born in Amsterdam in 1961. After completing his secondary education, he studied at the Free University of Amsterdam, obtaining a Masters Degree in Business Economics in 1988. Mr. Varwijk joined KLM Royal Dutch Airlines on January 1, 1989. During his early career at KLM he held various positions in Network Planning. He then moved on to Ground Services, where he was appointed Head of Aircraft Handling Schiphol in 1996, after serving as deputy head. Mr. Varwijk was subsequently appointed to various positions, including General Manager – Nordic Region in 1997, Vice President & Area Manager – Asia Pacific in 2000, and Senior Vice President – KLM Western Europe in 2003. In September 2006, Mr. Varwijk was appointed as Executive Vice President – Inflight Services. In July 2007, Mr. Varwijk was appointed as Executive Vice President Commercial Passenger Business. In October 2007 Mr. Varwijk was appointed as Executive Vice President International and The Netherlands for Air France KLM. In this position Mr. Varwijk is a member of the KLM Executive Committee and of the Executive Committee Air France KLM Group. Other positions currently held: - member of the supervisory board of Alzheimerraad Nederland, - Chairman of the supervisory board of Willem-Alexander Children's Fund.
