Niek Hoek
Chief Executive Officer of Delta Lloyd
Niek Hoek (53) studied Business Economics at the Free University of Amsterdam. Before joining Delta Lloyd Group, Niek Hoek followed an international career with Royal Dutch Shell plc. He started his career in 1981 at Shell Chemicals Netherlands and filled several functions before he moved to the Shell International Trading Company in London in 1987. In 1990 and 1991 Mr. Hoek held various management positions with Shell in Malaysia. In 1992 he was appointed as Managing Director of Shell Uruguay after which he became Director of Investments for the Shell Pension Fund in 1995. In 1997 Mr. Hoek made the transfer to the Executive Board of Delta Lloyd Group. By 2001, he was appointed as Chairman of the Executive Board. Mr. Hoek fulfils different positions in several boards within and outside of Delta Lloyd Group, for instance in the supervisory board of NIBC NV and in the supervisory board of Stadsherstel Amsterdam NV. He holds various secondary functions, including a membership of the Alliance of Insurance Firms’ management board, a membership of the advisory board of the RSM Erasmus University and he is vice-chairman of the supervisory board of the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra Foundation.
